Exporting Audio File
To export a song to your computer as an audio file, click on the export icon from the sidebar on the right-hand side of the studio.
You’ll be able to choose your preferred format: LO-RES MP3, HI-RES MP3 or WAV.
Soundation will process your song and you’ll be able to save it to your computer.
Exporting MIDI file
MIDI export allows you to transfer MIDI material from Soundation to virtually any MIDI sequencer or application on any platform.
There are two ways to export MIDI files.
Exporting MIDI Region
Exporting MIDI regions lets you save each region as a separate file. To do this, select one or more MIDI regions and right click. Then, select “Export MIDI file” from the menu.
Multiple single-track MIDI files will be saved to your computer.
Exporting MIDI Track
Exporting a MIDI track consolidates all regions and lets you save the whole track as one standard MIDI file. Simply right click on a MIDI channel and select “Export channel as MIDI”.
The exported MIDI file contains the notes and includes other information like velocity, time signature and tempo. That means when you import the MIDI file to another DAW like Ableton, you can pick up right where you left off in the jam session.
Something to keep in mind: If MIDI regions are empty or contain notes with 0 velocity or notes that are longer than the region, they will not be transferred.
Exporting Project File
A studio project, or .sng file, is a file that contains all the audio files, instruments, effects and automation used in a song. You can export your song as a studio project and share it with your friends via email so they can remix and edit your song right in their studio.
If you click on “Export .sng File” you will download a data file of the song arrangement in Soundation. The .sng file is very small and can be sent to another Soundation user to listen to or work on an arrangement of your song.
For Intro or Premium users, the “Export .sng File” function will also download any imported or recorded audio you added to the song. The file is then called a .sngz file and will contain your custom audio files and the original .sng file. The file name is short for “song zip” and can be unpacked with any unzip program to find the custom audio files added to the song.
This feature will allow paid users to have a local copy to then free up their storage usage by deleting the song audio files from My Files folder.
